Show Up In Style

Costume Contest

You don’t need a costume to come to the carnival, but this is your reason to go all out. Dress up, hit the floor, and compete for the grand prize. Check the costume rules before you plan your props.

Judging Criteria

How We'll Judge It

Creativity

The Costume Idea

Did you take a classic and flip it? Mash up two things that shouldn't work but somehow do? Come as something nobody else thought of? Original ideas and unexpected twists get the love they deserve.

Halloween Spirit

Spooky, Silly or Playful

Halloween can be all of these at once, and that's the point. It's about how much fun (or fright) your costume brings to the room. Bonus points if it makes someone do a double-take.

Overall Impression

The Full Package

How complete it looks, how well everything ties together, and whether it sticks in our heads after we've walked away. Little details count.

Keep It Safe

Costume Rules

  • All-ages, family-friendly event — costumes must provide suitable coverage, with no sexually explicit, hateful, discriminatory, or graphically disturbing material.
  • Plastic or foam props are welcome as long as they’re obviously harmless, like a toy sword or a magic wand. No real weapons, nothing metal or sharp, no realistic-looking guns, and nothing that fires projectiles.
  • No sharp edges, exposed points, flames, smoke, liquids, loose glitter, confetti, or anything else that could injure guests or dirty the venue.
  • Organisers have final discretion over whether an item is safe.

Not sure if your costume or props are okay? Email jowell@greatestjchan.com before the event and we’ll let you know.

Most importantly: have fun with it
